Reading Den

Kindergarten through second grade students receive an envelope each week with one or two books.

The students are allowed to take the books home and asked to return them the following Tuesday.

The books are meant to give the student a taste of a new genre of book and/or give them access to additional reading material.

3rd & 4th Graders have an additional 40 books in their classroom that they may check out at will to read at their leisure.

These books are again, additional reading materials for the children that are already reading and taking Accelerated Reader tests.

Last year, 2nd and 3rd graders received sets of books that were shared among the grades/classrooms.

These books were used within the curriculum to enhance the learning experience.

This program is supported by a grant from our local Target store in Robinson Township.

Volunteers are needed for the Reading Den book exchange to ensure that the kids get new books to read each week.

The exchange typically takes 1.5 - 2 hours and occurs every Wednesday.

If there are enough volunteers this year, the time commitment would only be every 2nd or 3rd Wednesday.

Depending on availability, the exchange could take place in the morning or afternoon.

If you are interested in helping, please contact
Natalie Kugler (njkugler@yahoo.com).

Please indicate whether you would prefer morning or afternoon and how often you would be available.

Your support for this valuable program is greatly appreciated.
